Nature Calls \u2013 All Year Round<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Eda, nature is never far away. With its 12 nature reserves, there are plenty of places to explore. A popular destination is Tallmon Nature Reserve<\/a> in Charlottenberg, just a stone’s throw from the shopping streets. Here, you can walk along winding paths, use the outdoor gym, or warm up in the cabin on colder days. Another popular reserve is Glaskogen Nature Reserve<\/a>, which is also the largest in V\u00e4rmland. Glaskogen offers 300 km of hiking trails, ranging from easy day trips to multi-day hikes with overnight stays in shelters or cabins. There are also beautiful canoe routes and fishing opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the summer, H\u00e4ljeboda<\/a> and Skillingsfors attract visitors with perfect waters for paddling. Prefer hiking? The Pilgrimsleden V\u00e4stra V\u00e4rmland<\/a> winds through Eda along the old railway embankment between Koppom and Skillingsfors, offering scenic surroundings. Near the Pilgrimsleden and Skillingmark’s church, there’s a delightful waffle caf\u00e9. A stop at the Skillingsfors Waffle Caf\u00e9<\/a> is a must \u2013 freshly made waffles never taste as good as after a hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the snow falls, Eda transforms into a winter paradise. Valfj\u00e4llet Skicenter<\/a> is a perfect family-friendly destination with five lifts and 12 slopes. For families with children, the mascot Valter is always a favorite. After hours on the slopes, it’s nice to relax in the restaurant for a well-deserved break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the adventurous, Bryelsegrottan<\/a> awaits. This is an ideal place to visit from February to April when you can step into the cave with the rock wall on one side and the icefall on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culture with an Exciting Border History<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Eda boasts a rich cultural heritage, thanks in large part to its fascinating border history. The border crossing at Morokulien<\/a>, located along Highway 61\/Route 2, is the second-largest crossing between Sweden and Norway. Morokulien is best known for the Peace Monument<\/a> from 1914, which was built to commemorate 100 years of peace between the two countries. From here, you can also access the Finnskogleden<\/a> Trail, a 240-kilometer-long hiking path that stretches all the way to Trysil in Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another historical gem is Eda Skans<\/a>. Here, you can get an insight into the area’s military history and visit the Eda Skans Museum<\/a> to learn more. The border history also lives on at the Eda Glass Museum<\/a>, where you can see a selection of preserved pieces from the glassworks’ production, which operated from 1835 to 1953. At the turn of the century, this was one of Sweden’s largest glassworks. Guided tours are available, and there is also a small production and sales area on-site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have You Seen the White Moose?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Eda’s most mythical resident \u2013 the white moose. Around 15 of them roam freely in the area, so make sure to keep your camera close at hand!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
