Grums is a municipality in V\u00e4rmland that offers interesting history, unique culture experiences and breathtaking nature. When you are in Grums you are always within reach of nature, water and city life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its border to lake V\u00e4nern and central location between Stockholm, Oslo and Gothenburg travelling to Grums<\/a> is as easy as it can get. The buses and trains run regularly and can take you to Karlstad or maybe even Germany? The european roads, the E18 and E45, cross within the municipality meaning that approximately 15 000 cars pass Grums every day. With 3 national cycle tracks passing through the municipality Grums is a fantastic place for a bike ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Grums there is a high propability that if you want to do something, you can do it here. Grums offers a school of the arts, a library and even a genealogy club. Within the municipality you can water ski, ride horses, play hockey, swim, practice martial arts, go downhill skiing and so much more. Grums strives to be a municipality with a wide range of social activities for both adults and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grums is a lake municipality so there is a lot to do here if you have a boat, or at least know someone who does. At various places in Grums you can find loading docks, islands with bbq areas and guest harbours for you to dock your boat if you want to experience everything that dry land has to offer. But V\u00e4nern isn’t the only lake within the municipality, Grums actually offers an extensive lakesystem with the lake V\u00e4rmeln and L\u00e5ngsj\u00f6n. Both perfect for swimming, fishing or canoeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nature<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The different towns of Grums are all located within the beautiful nature of V\u00e4rmland. Either your surrounded by forest or surrounded by water. There are plenty of places to explore the nature in Grums by hiking, cayaking or cycling. If you want to hike, Grums offers a variety of different hiking trails<\/a> with a variety of difficulties. Multiple places in Grums offer canoe or cayak rentals making it possible to explore the waters that might be hard to get to by motorboats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Grums municipality is full of culture and this is something the locals are very proud of. Music has always been a big part of the community here and this shows in the musicians that were born and raised here. The swedish folk band Sven-Ingvars was created here in 1956 and are one of the greatest folk music bands in swedish history. Another local musical artist is Rigmor Gustafsson, a jazz singer who was born and raised in V\u00e4rmskog. Multiple music events<\/a> take place in Grums every year and are very appriciated by both locals and tourists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grums is also packed with culture in the shape of art. There are art galleries in nearly every town with walls full of paintings by local artists for you to enjoy. But there is also art in the shape of handmade crafts made by various locals that have a passion for culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Grums has a very interesting history that goes as far back as to the ice ages. It was here in Grums that the first inhabitants of what later become the county V\u00e4rmland resigned. The name V\u00e4rmland originates from the river V\u00e4rma, nowadays called Borgviks\u00e4lven, in Borgvik which is were the first arrivals settled down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another huge part of Grums history is the old iron works in Borgvik. From the 17th century to 1925 the iron works in Borgvik played a major part in the iron industry in Sweden and worldwide. At its best the works produced 4000 tons of iron per year and a big amount of this iron went straight to Paris and the Eiffel Tower. The ruins of the Iron works still remain in Borgvik today and are one of Grums most visited tourist attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In V\u00e4rmskog you can find the telephone mogul, LM Ericsson’s, memorial estate and in Liljedal you can visit the old glassworks museum where the shape of the famous swedish vodka bottle was created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food and drinks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don’t know what to eat for lunch or dinner? Grums has a wide range of great places to eat and drink. In V\u00e4rmskog you can visit V\u00e4rmskogs Caf\u00e9 that serves shrimp sandwiches that tourist travel miles for. In Liljedal you can enjoy good food with an even better view at Liljedals beach club. Borgvik offers food good enough to be posted in the White Guide at Sliperiet. In Grums city centre you can enjoy tradional swedish food for an affordable price. These are just a few of the many restaurants that Grums municipality has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accommodation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Whether you bring you home with you on the road and need a place to park for the night or prefer a warm bed where you don’t have to change the sheets afterwards, Grums can offer you a place to rest your head. There are pitches for motorhomes at various locations in the municipality. Grums municipality offers hotels, hostels, cabins and even a houseboat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
