Mariebergsskogen is Karlstad’s city park, and here you can experience animals and nature up close in Naturum Värmland and in Lillskogen Zoo. You can explore the play garden, play tired on the large playgrounds, explore the open-air museum and take part in events for all ages. Marieberg’s beach meadows are nestled between the 400-year-old pine forest and the Klarälven wetland and water.

Take the boat bus to some of Lake Vänern’s 22,000 islands for swimming and/or hiking

Every day there is the possibility to go out on Lake Vänern with Storholmen. There are several shelters and picnic areas on the island, and you can take a dip in the inland sea at one of the many bays and cliffs.

Västra Långholmen

Västra Långholmen is a small island in the outer part of Vänerskärgården. An incredibly beautiful trip that winds its way through Skoghallsådran and stops at Café Klarälven, which is a summer café with a kiosk. From there, it takes about five minutes to walk into the centre, where you will find shops, restaurants and mini golf.

From the centre, it takes another five minutes down to Lillängshamnen. Lillängshamnen is a pleasant marina just a five-minute walk from Skoghall town centre. There is a promenade along the shoreline where you can reach the rocks via footbridges, bridges and wooden jetties. There is also a fish smokehouse where you can eat or have a coffee

Around Karlstad

Every day line 92 runs guided tours, you can choose between Karlstad around which starts at the Inner Harbour and goes one lap via the Pråm Canal and the lock, around Sandgrundsudden and further past Karlstad’s cradle and along the Western river channel past Sommaro and Knappstad, past Mariebergsskogen and back to the Inner Harbour.
