In the summer of 2008, a nature reserve was established on the Rennstadsnipan mountain. The area has been protected due to its high natural values. The forest on the mountain consists of pine, aspen, linden and hazel, among other things. There is also a lot of dead wood, which means that many insects, plants, fungi and animals thrive. You can see traces of forest fire, which is very unusual in today's forest landscape. It is not only plants and animals that thrive on Rennstadsnipan. Many people also enjoy hiking in the beautiful forest.
The peak of Rennstadsnipan is 253 meters above sea level. At the top there is a 12-meter high observation tower that was built by the Högboda village association in 2003. From the tower you have a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape and in clear weather you can see both Vänern and Värmeln. There is also overnight shelter here.
How to get here
Rennstadsnipan is located just west of Rennstad, about 6 kilometers north of Boda and 17 kilometers northwest of Kil. There is a path between Nordsjötjärnet and Rennstadtjärnet that leads up to the top where there is a observation tower, wind shelter, barbecue area, guest book and outdoor toilet. There are signs to Rensstadsnipan when you turn off towards Högboda from National Road 61.
