Discgolf in Arvika

Disc golf, also known as frisbee golf, is an outdoor activity suitable for all ages. The sport has grown increasingly popular in recent years, with great interest in Sweden and Scandinavia. It's a sport where the whole family can enjoy the various aspects of the game and nature, but it's also ideal for those who are more competitive, seeking challenges and looking to improve their skills. In Arvika municipality, there are three different disc golf courses, each with its own unique character, challenges, and levels of difficulty.

Ingestrands Disc golf Course

Ingestrand’s disc golf course is the newest course in Arvika, inaugurated in 2023, and is beautifully situated in the outdoor recreation area of Ingestrand, about 3 km south of Arvika’s town centre. The course is a forest course with 18 holes, offering a mix of all lengths and difficulty levels. It’s a disc golf course for the whole family, with many challenging holes for more experienced players, but at the same time, not overwhelmingly difficult for newer players. Completing all 18 holes takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on how many players there are and how fast you play. It’s also possible to play shorter rounds by skipping holes. For example, you can easily go from hole 5 to hole 17 for a short 7-hole round.

Equipment can be rented or purchased at both Ingestrand’s Camping and the Mini Golf Park. If you want to stay updated on what’s happening at and around Ingestrand’s disc golf course or wish to play with other enthusiasts, you can contact or follow Arvika Disc Golf Club.

Disc golf is one of many activities available in the outdoor area at Ingestrand. The forest area also features a 2.5 km lighted trail and several MTB trails of varying difficulty. Right next to the disc golf course, there is a wonderful beach with a playground and an accessible pier – perfect for a refreshing swim after your round. By the water, there are several barbecue areas, and at the Mini Golf Park with adventure golf and shuffleboard, you can enjoy ice cream and coffee. In the same area, you’ll find the year-round family campsite Ingestrand’s Camping and Arvika Canoe & Tourist Center.

Fredros Disc golf course

In the more secluded and wilderness-like nature of the northern part of Arvika municipality, there is a shorter 9-hole forest course. It’s perfect for the whole family, with some challenging throws for more experienced players, but at the same time, the basket distances are manageable for beginners. It’s a pleasant walk of about an hour through a mix of coniferous forest and slightly more open terrain. Many of the holes have elevation changes, providing good variety, and even though the course is set in a forest, there’s plenty of space to make the throws you’re comfortable with.

One important thing to keep in mind when you head out to Fredros Disc Golf Course is that the par varies on many of the holes, meaning that you’re expected to make a different number of throws to reach the basket. Usually, courses of this size are made up entirely of par 3 holes, but this one includes some par 4 holes and even a par 2 (which is unusual), so be sure to check the information sheet before each hole. Equipment can be rented at Treens Camping.

Arvika Discgolf Park

Arvika Discgolf Park in Ottebol, west of Arvika, is a world-class course! Gjermund Thoresen, the landowner, had a vision to build a course capable of hosting major tournaments, and he succeeded: several international tournaments are held during the summer months.

Arvika Discgolf Park is designed primarily for experienced and professional players seeking a challenging experience. The course features a mix of more open golf-style holes and wooded disc golf. It offers great variety in hole shapes, with no two holes alike – a very well-designed course overall. You’ll need to use your entire disc bag to shape your throws along the fairways, and many holes offer strategic options where you need to carefully consider what you want to achieve with your throw. There’s a large variety of both long and short throws, some with challenging OB lines and varying fairway widths. Tight and narrow fairways with clear and defined lines await you on the shorter holes.

The natural surroundings on and around the course are incredibly beautiful. Arvika Discgolf Park is situated near a lake in a fairly secluded location, allowing for full focus on nature and disc golf during your round. On the more open holes, the grass is mowed at different levels, and all OB (Out of Bounds) areas are clearly marked with sturdy posts, giving the course an organized and professional feel.

A course of this caliber requires significant maintenance, so there is a fee to play. The current price is available on the homepage.
