Vänerleden
Vänerleden, stretching approximately 640 km around Sweden’s largest lake, offers a fantastic cycling experience through some of Värmland’s most spectacular landscapes, including Borgvik in Grums Municipality. Along the route, you will encounter everything from picturesque small towns and archipelagos to dense forests and wide-open countryside – a variety that makes every stage unique.
The trail passes beautiful beaches, striking natural landmarks and cultural heritage sites. You cycle through charming villages and welcoming cafés, past farm shops and restaurants recognised in the White Guide, where you can stop and enjoy local delicacies. Vänerleden offers a varied mix of gravel roads, low-traffic asphalt roads and dedicated cycle paths through forests, farmland and along the scenic shores of Lake Vänern.
Unionsleden
Unionsleden, stretching 350 km from Moss in Norway to Karlstad in Sweden, is one of the country’s most impressive cycling routes. As Sweden’s fourth national cycling trail, it takes you through a diverse landscape where every pedal stroke offers new and breathtaking views. One moment you are cycling through charming villages, the next along mirror-like lakes or winding gravel roads through deep forests and open landscapes with grazing animals. In Grums Municipality, the route passes through the beautiful village of Borgvik.
The name Unionsleden honours the historic Swedish-Norwegian union formed in Moss in 1814 and dissolved in Karlstad in 1905. Along the way, you can not only enjoy beautiful nature but also discover historical sites, art galleries, farm shops and unique destinations such as a whisky distillery and picturesque lock environments.
