There are many beautiful viewpoints around Kils municipality that offer magnificent views. Here you can read about some wonderful excursion destinations.
Frykstahöjden
At Fryksta there is a ice-margin delta at a level of about 100 meters above sea level. Ten thousand years ago, the delta dammed up the lower end of Fryksdalen, which forced Norsälven River to take a different path. Fryksta is a unique geological formation. The ice-margin delta formation consists of glacial river material. Drinking water from the formation is used for the entire community of Kil. Frykstahöjden is the number one outdoor paradise for the people of Kil. Several hiking trails run through the area. On the delta plateau there are exercise tracks suitable for both summer and winter activities. At the very top at the top of the slalom slope, there are barbecue areas. Here you can sit down and enjoy a wonderful view of the lake Fryken.
Rennstadsnipan
At the top there is a 12-meter high observation tower that was built by Högboda village association in 2003. From the tower you have a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape and in clear weather you can see both Vänern and Värmeln. There is also overnight shelter here. In the summer of 2008 a nature reserve was established at Rennstadsnipan. You can read more about Rennstadsnipan here.
Rinnforsbranten
Rinnforsbranten is a very steep cliff that was probably created by a fault. The cliff is suitable for cliff-nesting birds such as ravens. In the Viking Age, the oldest of the tribe, who had become too old, were taken to this cliff. Here the family pushed them down with a long log held by everyone so that no one could be blamed for murder.
Storstrandshöjden, Hurttjärnet
In the middle of the forest on Storstrandshöjden, nestled between steep mountain ridges, lies Hurttjärnet. From the top you have an incredibly beautiful view of the lake and large parts of Värmeln and its islands. At Hurttjärn there is an odd attraction - an old telephone booth.
Valfjället viewpoint
Valfjället has great value as a natural forest stand for both flora and fauna. Oriole and capercaillie thrive in this environment. At the highest part of Valfjället grows a very old pine stand, some over 250 years old. Here the old Church Trail runs between Renstad and Boda. On this trail the dead were carried from the northern parishes to the cemetery in Boda. The resting stones that people once sat on are still there on the southern slope. From the Church Trail a side path leads to a viewpoint with a lovely view of Säveln and Boda.
