Welcome to this year’s edition of Geology Day in Långban, which is being celebrated in grand style with the inauguration of the newly established Mineral Kingdom Geopark (Mineralriket Geopark)! Enjoy interesting lectures, plenty of activities, and of course cake and balloons to mark the occasion.

The Mining Engineering School (Bergsskolan). A lecture about the nearly 200-year-old educational institution in Filipstad. Presented by Jörgen Andersson, CEO of Bergsskolan.

Opening speech followed by cake for all visitors.

Experts will examine and identify stones that visitors bring with them.

Try your hand at mineral identification with Jörgen Langhof, Curator of Geology at the Swedish Museum of Natural History. Using UV light, magnets, and other testing methods, you can experience what it is like to be a mineralogist for a day.

The reception café will also be open, serving coffee, refreshments, and ice cream.
This event is part of the Mineralriket Geopark Wermlandsberg initiative and is a collaboration between Värmlands Museum, the Långban Society, the Långban Diving Society, Bergsskolan, and local volunteers in Långban.
