Kollsberg features several historic buildings from the surrounding area, furnished to show how people once lived and worked. These include a Forest Finnish smoke cabin, a traditional Finnish sauna, a blacksmith's home from Torsby bruk, a schoolroom, a country store, and historic residential buildings. Torsbymuseet tells the story of Torsby's development from the Stone Age to the present day.
The site also has an amphitheatre used for events and entertainment. Fryksände Hembygdsförening organises recurring events throughout the year, including Walpurgis Night and Midsummer celebrations, folk music gatherings, and markets.
Local flavours
During the summer season and at various events, refreshments are served in Storstugan. Enjoy coffee, homemade cakes and bread, and waffles. During parts of the summer, the traditional Forest Finnish dish motti with pork is also served.
Hiking, views and swimming
Kollsberg is also a great starting point for walks and hikes. The Siristigen hiking trail passes the Heritage Museum, and several forest paths continue towards Fryksände Church. Just below Kollsberg, there is also a popular swimming area with a jetty on Lake Fryken.
Free parking is available for both cars and buses. Guided tours are offered during parts of the year and can also be booked for groups.
