Total length: 8
kmFämtleden offers a moderate to challenging hike through dramatic and scenic landscapes. The trail begins and ends at the upper Fämt bridge, just above the powerful Fämtfall waterfall. Along the way, you'll experience stunning nature as the river Fämtan winds through the terrain, creating a vibrant and dynamic environment.
After about 3.5 km, the trail crosses the river via a 100-year-old suspension bridge – an experience in itself. On the western side of the bridge, there’s a fireplace where you can rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The trail also features cultural and historical remains from the golden era of hydropower, including a slag heap from Femtå Bruk (operating between 1837 and 1862) and remnants of a 17th-century sawmill. You'll also encounter an old toll mill and several small mills once owned by local farmers. For centuries, Fämtan was also an important log driving route.
Please note that the trail is very steep and rocky in certain sections. You need to have a good basic level of fitness and stable joints in order to complete the entire route.
