Waterfall and dramatic scenery
At Fämtfallet, the Fämtan river drops around 44 metres and has shaped the landscape over thousands of years. Upstream from the waterfall, the water has carved its way through the rock, creating an impressive canyon that is around 60 metres deep in places.
At the waterfall, the water has also formed a natural pool. There is a swimming area with a jetty and ladder for those who want to take a dip.
Rest area and motorhome stop
Next to Fämtfallet is a well-equipped rest area with tables, seating and barbecue facilities. There is also a toilet and a motorhome stop, making it a convenient place to stop along Road 62.
Traces of local history
Over the centuries, the water power of Fämtan has been used for mills, sawmills, ironworks and power generation. Several cultural and historical remains can be found in the area, including traces of Femtå Bruk, old mills and former power stations. Fämtan was also used for timber floating for many years.
