The mill was originally built in 1924 by Johan “Stret-Johan” Persson and was moved to its current location by AB Femtå Elektricitetsverk in 1939. Today, it is run by a family business that continues the tradition of roasting, milling, and refining oats into the characteristic “skrädmjöl” – a flour deeply rooted in Värmland’s food culture.
Skrädmjöl is made from 100% gluten-free oats, organically grown in Värmland. The roasted oats give the flour its unique flavor, making it a natural ingredient in traditional dishes such as nävgröt/motti, but also in everything from porridge and waffles to pizza dough and cookies.
On selected days, the mill is open to visitors. Guided tours are offered, where you can learn more about the history of the mill and the production process. Skrädmjöl is available for purchase on site.
Current opening hours are posted on Facebook.
