An exciting glassworks museum at Liljedal’s local heritage centre.
Welcome to the Glassworks Museum in Liljedal, where you can learn more about the history of the area and the extensive glassmaking industry that shaped the community for more than 100 years.
The museum features photographs and objects from the glassworks era, including a variety of glassware and numerous bottles. Here, you can gain an insight into the industry that played an important role in Liljedal for many years and the people who lived and worked here.
The Liljedal Glassworks was in operation between 1781 and 1917 and was, at its height, Scandinavia’s largest producer of glass bottles.
At its peak, around 150 glassblowers worked at the glassworks, producing more than 13 million bottles each year. Among the products manufactured here was a medicine bottle that later became the model for a well-known Swedish vodka bottle.
Today, few visible traces remain of this extensive industry, but at the Glassworks Museum you can discover objects and stories from an important period in Liljedal’s history.
The Glassworks Museum is located at Liljedal’s local heritage centre, Mjöllösa. To visit the museum or book a guided tour, please contact the Liljedal Local Heritage Association.

In the garden at Liljedal’s local heritage centre, you will also find one of seven artworks in Grums Municipality created in memory of Sven-Erik Magnusson. Sven-Erik grew up in Slottsbron and was the lead singer of the Swedish band Sven-Ingvars for 60 years.
The artworks were created by artist Bo Jonzon in collaboration with Sven-Erik’s son, Oscar Magnusson. Each artwork features a few lines from a well-known song from Sven-Erik’s musical career – can you recognise the song?
