Follow Lake Vänern by bike from central Kristinehamn, along Vålösund and on towards the Picasso sculpture. Along the way, you’ll find water, the archipelago and plenty of places to stop for a while.

Cycle towards the horizon
From central Kristinehamn, Lake Vänern and the archipelago are close at hand. From here, the Vänerleden continues through a varied landscape of forest roads, open countryside and stops close to the lake.
Cycle towards the Picasso sculpture and continue along the trail, or choose a shorter section and make it a day trip. Along the way, there are plenty of reasons to stop – for a swim, a coffee or simply to take in the view.
Vänerleden is Sweden’s sixth national cycle route and runs for a total of 640 kilometres around Sweden’s largest lake. 85.4 kilometres of the route pass through Kristinehamn.

Take your bike into the Värmland forest.
At the mountain bike trails at Hultet and Björkvallen, you’ll find forest trails, gravel roads and varied terrain. Choose a shorter and easier ride or head out on a longer route with more speed and challenge.
The trails are between 3 and 18 kilometres long and marked by difficulty level, making it easy to find a route that suits your cycling experience.

Towards the Picasso sculpture, 8 km
A route from the town centre along Vålösundsvägen and the waterfront promenade towards the Picasso sculpture.

Kummelön, 30 km
A longer route through the countryside around Ölme and onwards towards Kummelön. The route follows Vänerleden for much of the way. After Ölme Church, follow the road signs towards Kummelön.

Kristinehamn Loop, 27 km
A circular route starting in the town centre. The first part heads towards the Picasso sculpture before continuing through the countryside and back to Kristinehamn.
